Pool Retreat
Concrete stepping stones surrounded by loose natural stone create a whimsical walkway connecting the street to the front door.
The design is mirrored in the driveway with cobblestones mortared between concrete for vehicle use. Two pillars and a Redwood fence frame the entrance and section off a welcoming courtyard.
A new walkway and xeriscape in the front yard were two design elements used by the landscape designers of our Tierrasanta renovation project.
In the backyard, new patios build with wood and concrete compliment each other and add interest with striking angles. The use of varying materials adds interest and beauty through color and texture. The decks provide open areas for sitting, lounging, and dining. A small lawn softens the hardscape.
Low-maintenance plants were artfully arranged throughout bark mulch for a beautiful yet drought tolerant landscape.
On one patio, a modern child’s play area blends in with the design, possessing the ability to grow into a usable space in the future. Shade sails continue the geometric layered theme while providing shelter from the sun’s harsh rays during the day.
Separated from the lawn and child’s play area by a transparent self-latching safety wall, a large pool and spa area reflect the blue of the sky. An Ipe wooden deck frames a uniquely-shaped pool custom designed for this space. Creative planting around the border and a living wall vertical garden provides a pop of life and color and will grow to provide shade and privacy, as well.
