Check Out What A Happy Homeowner Had to Say

After an intense process of finding the right Design Build company we choose Eco Minded Solutions for a large home remodel project for our Carlsbad home. From the initial consultation to the completion of the project, everything ran smoothly. The crew was always on time and often worked longer than expected to keep the project on track. Loving our newly remodeled home and would highly recommend Eco Minded!

Dry Creek Beds

Creating reservoirs for rainwater to drain into allows water to percolate back into the water table, making your landscape less prone to erosion. Dry creek beds need not appear unsightly—when filled with local stone, they add natural beauty while retaining the eco-friendly, drought-tolerant qualities you want in your yard.

Mulch

Mulch reduces erosion in any application, but it’s particularly effective when landscaping on a sloped backyard. Adding four inches of mulch to a hillside with a gradient as steep as 2:1 eliminates erosion and reduces runoff by half. Recycled mulch sourced from Southern California is the most sustainable way to make this addition.

Cantilevered Decks

Want to create a flat surface on a hillside? One way is simply to build above it! With a cantilevered deck, you can enjoy a living space right outside your back door without traipsing up and down a hill. This addition also gives you the best possible views of the beautiful Southern California scenery, especially if you decide to use a glass railing system like the one we incorporated into the project pictured here.

Cascading Waterfalls or Streams

Water always bends to the will of gravity, so why not take advantage of this in your hillside landscaping? To bring this idea to life, we can create a carefully constructed water feature in your backyard, allowing you to achieve a beautiful cascading waterfall or stream.

Terraced Gardens

The best way to plant a garden on a slope is to create flat, stepped levels. We can construct a retaining wall between each level to ensure stability and prevent erosion. Need suggestions for what to include on each level? Our experienced landscape designers can help you pick plants based on their size, watering needs, and overall appearance. By selecting drought-tolerant plants well-suited to San Diego’s climate, you can create a beautiful terraced garden with minimal irrigation requirements.
